Success for Firth at Paralympic Championships

Bethany Firth picked up her second Silver medal last night at the Paralympic World Championships in Canada.

Firth, who had already won Silver in the 200m Freestyle on Monday came second in the Final of the 100m Backstroke S14.

After individual disappointment, Killaloe’s Jonathan McGrath is back in the pool tonight at the IPC World Swimming Championships in Montreal.

The Clare man had targeted a place in the final, but finished 12th overall in the heats and admits he was disappointed with his performance.

However, Jonathan now swims for a medal with the Ireland team who take part in the Final of a men’s freestyle relay tonight.  That race takes place just before 1:00 a.m. Irish time.
