Tipp’s Forde Banned Following Fitzgerald Incident

The C.C.C.C have proposed a one match ban on Tipperary’s Jason Forde following his tangle with Wexford manager Davy Fitzgerald in the Allianz league semi final.

Forde, who had been facing a two match ban under the rule of assaulting an official or mentor, was given a one game suspension on the lesser charge of contributing to a melee.

The punishment means he’ll miss their Munster championship game with Cork this month although he can appeal the decision to the Central Appeals Committee.

Cork last night won through to the Munster Minor Hurling semi finals.

The young Rebels comfortably saw off Waterford 1-24 to 0-8 at Páirc Uí Rinn.

The Deise’s campaign isn’t over yet – they face Limerick in a second playoff next Thursday.

Clare are already safely into the semi-finals.
