Tony Griffin expresses confidence in new hurling managment set up

Retiring Clare Hurler Tony Griffin has expressed his confidence that the new Senior Hurling Management Team will bring new success for Clare Hurling, though he won’t be part of the panel.

The Ballyea man has expressed his gratitude to an invitation from Ger. Sparrow O’Loughlin to return to his team, following his decision to retire which was made in the wake of the controversy surrounding former manager Mike McNamara.

Gerry Quinn, who was controversially dropped from Mike Macs side, has accepted a similar invitation to return to the fold.

But Tony Griffin says his decision was based on pursuing his business ambitions though he had called for change in the Hurling management structure.

The Clare Hurling panel are getting to know their new manager Ger Sparrow O Loughlin along with his backroom team of Liam Doyle Danny Chaplin and Fiach O Loughlin as training got underway last night and Tony Griffin is pleased to see the changed set up
