The 20th anniversary of Clare's 1995 All-Ireland Title win is being marked at one of two events being held at council headquarters on New Road in Ennis this evening.

Clare hurlers were the talk of the country two decades ago when the curse of Biddy Early was laid to rest.

Local representatives decided to hold the civic reception to honour players and managers at a ceremony from 7.30pm.

Meanwhile, a number of other sporting heroes will be honoured at a second event at Áras Contae an Chláir from 6.45pm.

The Clare Handball Club will be honoured for their recent success in the World Handball Championships, along with the Clare Lifesavers following a successful European Lifesaving Championships.

And, Paul Kirrane and Patrick Rutherford will be honoured following their win at the Special Olympics World Games.

A Civic Reception is one of the highest honours that can be bestowed by Clare County Council.
