An Oireachtas Committee this week voted in favour of a repeal of the Eighth, unrestricted access to abortion up to 12 weeks and abortion in cases of rape, incest, and fatal foetal abnormalities.

The divisive issue has led to lively debate about what specifically will be asked in the referendum, which is expected to be held in May.
Éilís Murphy of Abortion Rights Clare says the work begins now in ironing out the details.
However, Erica Shepherd of the Pro-Life Campaign in Clare disagrees.
She is describing the vote as a blow to equality – and says the Eighth Amendment has saved lives.
