On The Afternoon Show today, Gavin Grace was joined by Martin McMahon from Clare’s ICMSA (Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers Association) to discuss how Tesco has confirmed it won’t be using frozen burgers from the Silvercrest factory in County Monaghan anymore. The move will see an end to a contract worth 15 million euro a year. The company has issued a strongly worded statement, in the wake of the horsemeat scandal. It says it will continue to buy products worth over 100 million euro from other ABP companies. The Tesco group has also announced it’s to introduce a comprehensive system of DNA testing across its meat products.

Clare FM’s Kiara Gannon was also out and about for The Afternoon Show and met with leaving Cert students to find out what they have chosen as first choice on the CAO application ahead of Friday’s deadline.
