Banner Bow Out Of Minor Hurling Champsionship

Clare's minor hurlers have been knocked out of their Munster Championship, despite a valiant second-half performance against Waterford in last night's semi-final.

A poor start saw Clare trail by nine points within the first eight minutes, but they began to narrow the gap with two Aaron Shanagher goals.

At half-time, there were six between them with Clare trailing 2-8 to 2-2.

Kilmaley clubman Michael O'Malley was sent off five minutes into the second-half, making a Clare comeback seemingly improbable, but come back they did.

Colin Corbett scored four second half points, and at one stage Clare led by two points.

However, Waterford got their noses in front and won by a single point in a score of 2-13 to 2-12, with Deise goalkeeper Billy Nolan pulling off a last minute save to rescue his team.

Waterford will learn their final opponents tonight – Cork meet Limerick in the second semi-final.
